What is Dabba Uncle?

Think of a food market, in an app

A dabba is a tiffin box. Dabba Uncle brings Melbourne's home-style Indian kitchens together in one app, so you can find one you love.

The problem

Great home cooks are hard to find. Most are hidden in WhatsApp and Facebook groups, and you can't easily tell whether a kitchen is registered.

Our fix

One app. Kitchens put up their meals, you pick one and pay in the app, and the kitchen cooks it and gets it to you.

Our one rule

Every kitchen must be registered with its local council. We don't cook and we don't own the kitchens. We run the market and its rules.

Why you can trust every kitchen

Dabba Uncle making an OK sign

Every kitchen on Dabba Uncle is registered with its local council. No exceptions.

Checked before it lists

A kitchen shows us its council registration before it can go live on Dabba Uncle.

Kept up to date

We track certificate expiry dates. If a kitchen's food safety certificate lapses, it goes offline until it's renewed.

Rated by real customers

Customers rate and review kitchens in the app, so the good ones rise.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can I order on this website?

No. Orders happen in the Dabba Uncle app, on iPhone and Android. This website is where you join the waitlist.

When can I start ordering?

The app launches on Monday 30 November 2026. Join the waitlist and we'll tell you the moment it's live.

Where do you deliver?

Kitchens across Melbourne set their own delivery areas. Put in your address and the app shows you kitchens near you.

How much does it cost?

Each kitchen sets its own prices, including its First Week price. You see every price in the app before you pay.

Can I skip a meal or pause?

Yes, in the app. Skipped meals carry forward as credit. A pause starts one week after you ask, so your kitchen can plan.

Can I find vegetarian, Jain or halal food?

Each kitchen lists what it cooks, and you can filter by diet in the app. Kitchens with a halal certificate can show it, and you can filter for them.

How do I know a kitchen is safe?

Every kitchen is registered with its local council before it can list. We track certificate expiry dates, and a kitchen whose food safety certificate lapses goes offline until it's renewed.

I cook. Can I join?

Yes, if your kitchen is registered with your local council. See our page for kitchens.

Cook for Melbourne?

List your council-registered kitchen on Dabba Uncle. Kitchen onboarding opens Tuesday 10 November.
